The Las Vegas Raiders‘ selection of Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft was a surprising move given their solid rookie season from Michael Mayer. However, adding a dynamic playmaker like Bowers to an offense searching for identity is a strategic gamble.

With quarterback uncertainty between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, acquiring a young, versatile weapon was crucial.

Bowers, with his ability to excel in the middle of the field, complements the Raiders’ established outside receivers, Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. While Mayer’s role might be impacted, the Raiders can utilize both talented tight ends extensively.

The rookie’s versatility as a slot receiver, inline blocker, and overall offensive threat makes him a valuable asset. He is likely to become a focal point of the offense.

As a high NFL draft pick, there are a lot of expectations for Bowers to have a great season. Here are the odds for AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year 2024-25:

College Career

Brock Bowers was initially expected to share playing time at tight end as a freshman at Georgia. However, unforeseen circumstances thrust him into the spotlight as the team’s primary tight end.

Bowers’ freshman campaign was incredible. He started hot with a standout performance against Clemson, leading the Bulldogs in receiving. His dominance continued with multiple touchdown games, including a career-long 89-yard reception against UAB.

Notably, he recorded two 100-yard receiving games, showcasing his versatility as a threat both in the ing and rushing game. His contributions were instrumental in Georgia’s SEC Championship appearance and eventual College Football Playoff victory.

Bowers garnered numerous accolades during his freshman year, including SEC Freshman of the Year and All-SEC first-team honors. He shattered Georgia’s single-season receiving touchdown record, solidifying his status as a rising star.

The Californian entered his sophomore year with heightened expectations. He delivered, maintaining his dominance as Georgia’s primary offensive weapon. Highlights included a career-best rushing performance against Kent State and a spectacular 73-yard touchdown catch against Florida.

His consistency and playmaking ability were pivotal in Georgia’s undefeated season and back-to-back national championships.

Bowers’ sophomore campaign culminated in another John Mackey Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top tight end, and he once again led Georgia in receiving yards and touchdowns.

In his junior season, Bowers continued to excel despite missing several games due to injury. He clinched his third consecutive All-American honor and a second John Mackey Award, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest tight ends in college football history.

As he transitions to the NFL, Bowers is poised to make a significant impact at the professional level.

Season Preview

The Raiders’ selection of Bowers seemed counterintuitive given their recent investment in tight end Michael Mayer. However, the move becomes more strategic when considering their offensive potential.

New offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has a proven track record of maximizing tight end production, as evidenced by his work, something he will look to repeat with Bowers.

The Raiders’ quarterback situation, whether it’s Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell, is less of a concern given the team’s historical tendency to target tight ends. With Davante Adams commanding attention and Jakobi Meyers’ production fluctuating, Bowers emerges as the clear second receiving option even as a rookie.

Projecting Bowers’ impact is exciting. With a potential target share of 20% or more, he could easily sur 100 targets. With that amount of opportunities in the Raiders offense, he could easily sur his 2024 Brock Bowers season odds.

There is no doubt that Bowers can become one of the most talented young tight ends in the league, but quarterback questions and having many talented players on the Raiders roster could hold back his potential. This would be a high-reward, high-risk bet to take his over.

Rookie With Talent

There is no doubt that Bowers has incredible talent. The 2024 Brock Bowers season odds reflect how much of an impact is expected of him as a rookie. The NFL games score for the Raiders this season might not be pretty, but that doesn’t mean Bowers can’t rack up yards and touchdowns.

There are no free NFL football picks when it comes to player props. But Bowers can make waves as a rookie.
