Man City vs Real Madrid Head-to-Head
Last week, Manchester City and Real Madrid tallied a six-goal thriller in Madrid. It was one of the most memorable recent Bernardo Silva scored on a free kick just two minutes in to put Manchester City up. Just 12 minutes later, a Ruben Dias own goal and one from Rodrygo put hosts Real Madrid ahead. City fired back in the second half as Phil Foden sent a screamer into the top corner and Josko Gvardiol scored his first Man City goal.
Real Madrid weren’t done yet, as Fede Valverde equalized on a brilliantly taken volley to make the match 3-3. It was the second straight draw between these teams at the Bernabeu and a deadlock showed +240 Man City vs Real Madrid odds. Man City have lost just one of their last seven games vs. Real Madrid and they’ve won the last three meetings at the Etihad. Last season, City beat Real 4-0 in the second leg of the Semifinal.
Man City Ramping up for Trophy Haul
Manchester City took the lead in the Premier League on Saturday with a dominant 5-1 display vs. Luton Town. An early Erling Haaland shot took a wicked deflection off of Daiki Hashioka for an own goal but City did most of their scoring in the second half. Mateo Kovacic, Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Gvardiol all got on the scoresheet. Man City tend to play their best football towards the end of the season and this year isn’t proving to be an exception. City have averaged over three goals per game in their last five matches and haven’t lost since December.
Man City have also been to two of the last three Champions League finals and they’ve set their standards quite high. Pep Guardiola has been here plenty of times before and his City haven’t lost a Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium since 2018. Even without Kevin De Bruyne for long stretches of the season and Haaland not at his best, Man City can still come away with three trophies this season.
Phil Foden has also been nothing short of world-class lately and his goal last week at Real Madrid is a testament to that. Foden sat out Saturday’s match with a knock but he should be good to go on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Kyle Walker is still working his way back from an injury along with Nathan Ake. Rico Lewis and Manuel Akanji are options at right back if Walker can’t suit up.
Real Madrid’s Toughest Test of the Season
Los Blancos’ last two Barcelona.
Aurelien Tchouameni scored a brilliant long-range goal at Mallorca and it made all the difference in the match. However, the French midfielder is suspended for Wednesday’s match due to accumulating yellow cards. Jude Bellingham will be key vs. Manchester City but he is currently on a two-month goal drought.
Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba are out for the season with long term injuries.
Man City vs Real Madrid Match Analysis & Odds
While Manchester City are currently Champions League favorites, that mantle will be taken by Real Madrid if Los Blancos can get a win here. Man City are -175 against the 0.5 handicap (-0.5) (ATS) and -160 to win, straight-up. The Man City vs Real Madrid odds also list Los Blancos at a +235 price to advance, which will be their first win at the Etihad.
Whoever wins this game will advance to the Semifinal, with the aggregate score level at three after one leg. A draw (+325) would mean a tense extra time period and potentially penalty kicks. Bettors should note that Man City have won their last 12 Champions League matches at the Etihad in 90 minutes. They’ve scored at least three goals in each of their last eight UCL home games as well.
So, it’s not too big of a surprise that Real Madrid +0.5 sits at +130 odds. Real will feel like they have something to protect going into this one, so they may be in a bit of a shell defensively at times. Their best bets offensively will be trying to hit City on the counter with the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Both over and under three goals are priced at -110 in the follow-up to last week’s classic UCL match.
